Just Too True Not to Post

Yes, it's been about a hundred years since I've posted anything here. I keep hoping that I can get back to this part of my life, but so far that hasn't happened. We'll see what the summer brings...

Anyway, this picture is (like the title of this post says) just too true for me NOT to post it. I hope it brings a smile to your face as well :)

He is Risen!

Easter is the best day of the year! I'm so grateful for Jesus Christ and His life, sacrifice, and resurrection that make it possible for me (and everyone else) to change for the better and to live again with those we love.

Two videos to share, the first one is my favorite Easter hymn as sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the second one is wonderful to watch and ponder the message, "Because of Him."

"He Is Risen"

"Because of Him"

"Because of His infinite and eternal sacrifice…He can reach out, touch, succor, heal, and strengthen us to be more than we could ever be and help us to do that which we could never do." —David A. Bednar

How Did I Miss This?

Each Monday morning I anxiously open my email first thing in the morning to see if there's a letter from Elder Hatch. Many times there's one waiting (he is 8 hours ahead, so chances are good it will be there), sometimes it doesn't come until 9 or 10 am, in which case I am checking my email every 10 minutes or so until I get the letter (good thing I don't go to work until Monday afternoon, huh?) I always read through it really fast because when you only hear from your awesome missionary once a week, you've got to devour those letters (or is that just me??) I will read through the letter again as I edit and forward it to family and friends sometime that day or the next. Then the next Sunday, before I write my weekly letter to Elder Hatch, I read through the letter again so I can remember what I need to respond to or inquire about.

So tonight I was reading last week's email from him and came across this:
"God sure is great. He knew what this guy needed. I love being able to be a part of the progression. I love feeling the spirit, it's so cool. That was a really enlightening lesson for all involved."
What? I don't remember reading that on Monday or Tuesday (when I forwarded his email). How did I miss this? It's so profound. Here's my take on that part of the letter:

God sure is great! So true, He is great and I need to remember this more often and ponder on its meaning.
He knew what this guy needed. Our Father does know what we need and we need to trust Him and His plan. He will help us. I know this because He has helped me when I needed it.
I love being able to be a part of the progression. Not only does God know what we need, He allows others to be His hands and His voice. It's great to be the recipient of God's help at the hand of others, but it's even more awesome when we are the ones being the helper.
I love feeling the spirit, it's so cool. The experience of feeling the Spirit is priceless.
That was a really enlightening lesson for all involved. I'm so glad that my son is having experiences that let him learn and grow. And then he can share them with me and the rest of our family.

I think I better slow down when I read tomorrow's letter. I don't want to miss out on the wisdom he shares.

Christmas Day Picture

Christmas Day call with Elder Hatch--the best part of the day was all four of us together via Skype :)
He's even wearing the tie we sent him for a Christmas present.

So Blessed

After being in a kind of a hazy funk the past few weeks, something happened tonight that shocked me right out of it--in a good way. A dear friend that I've known for too many years to count (because that would make us old) listened to an impression and generously gave me a gift that will literally change my life (and yes, I do mean literally).
I am amazed at her thoughtfulness and generosity and so grateful for her willingness to follow a prompting. Truly an angel to me today.

President Thomas S. Monson said, "We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children." Thank you for generously lifting me up today.

Yep, This Is Me Sometimes...

But then I try to remember this:
