chirp. . .chirp. . .chirp. . .

Why do smoke alarms only chirp (not go off, just chirp) between 2 and 5 am?

  1. If you find out the answer, please let me know. We had an alarm in our last place that did that for months and then just stopped one day. We changed the batteries and everything.

  2. So true! I don't think that we have ever had a smoke alarm that chirpped in broad daylight.

  3. That is the worst. And how come my kids can sleep right through it, even when I accidently make the alarm go off, and I can't?

  4. Oh my gosh, I laughed when I saw this. In the last week, our smoke alarms have actually gone off twice in the middle of the night. Apparently there was no fire, but it went off. A few nights later, we had one chirping for a battery. What did I do to anger the smoke alarm gods??

  5. I know that the smoke alarm gods aren't interested in burnt offerings. Maybe they are trying to drive the humans out of the house (like in Poltergeist).
