Drumroll Please...

Aubrey has been called to serve in the Germany Berlin Mission!!

I'm so happy for so many reasons--the main one being that he has a desire and is worthy to serve the Lord by doing missionary service for 2 years. I'm also happy because I know that he really, really wanted to go to Germany--and now he will. I am glad that he goes to the MTC on January 6, 2010--because he won't have any time to waste between the end of the semester and leaving 3 weeks later! OK, that's a real Mom reason to be happy, but I still am. He put his availability date as January 1, but was thinking he wouldn't actually leave until February or March, but I guess the Lord has other plans for him!

It's been pretty exciting to see his reaction and to hear him on the phone with relatives and friends sharing his news.

I'm a proud mom today.

  2. I wish I knew how to say "Congrats" in German. I don't, but I send my congratulations anyway. I can't wait to hear all the stories from this point forward. Keep us posted.

  3. [insert really excited, jumping up and down excitement] Aubrey, ich gratuliere dich! You will LOVE the Berlin MIssion. Of course, I might be slightly biased, but I am really excited for you.

And congratulations to you and Gary, AnneMarie. It's quite an accomplishment to raise a son who has a desire to serve the Lord!

  5. Oh, my gosh! I picked Germany! Do you still have the e-mail I sent back to you saying my pick was Germany? I had no idea that's where he wanted to go. Guten tag! (Good day - that's the only thing I can remember from my German class in high school). My dad was telling me that we actually went to church there in Berlin when I was little. We lived in a little town called Bad Krueznach. I am so excited for him! Tell him Congrats!
