Okay, not really on hold--just pretty much every evening. I wouldn't call myself an Olympics "junkie," but a little bit of a "nut." I have tried to make good use of the time in front of the tv by making baby booties while I watch. It doesn't take too long to make a pair, so maybe by the end of the Olympic games, I will have many pairs to donate to humanitarian services.
I'm loving some of the commercials I keep seeing during the games. The P&G tribute to the moms of athletes (the commercial with all the kids) is a favorite. I also really like the McDonald's one with the guy who walks into a McD's with all the athletes.
I think the Vancouver 2010 logo is pretty funky!
I love feeling a surge of pride for my country when our National Anthem is played at the Medals ceremonies. (On a side note, see my facebook status about the Star Spangled Banner.)
I'm having lots of memories of the Olympics in Salt Lake (8 years ago) as I watch the current games. I remember the awesome torch relay coming through American Fork. I remember, through the generosity of friends, being able to attend women's biathlon at Soldier Hollow when the weather was just gorgeous. I remember, again through the generosity of a friend, being able to go to the Medals Plaza one night. I remember wearing several Olympic pins on my winter coat for about 2 years after the Salt Lake Games. I remember how proud I felt of our state.
Go Team USA!

What a happy little slice of your life! I always enjoy watching sports I have no opinion of during the off years! There's just something fun about watching and enjoying. Way to set an example for the rest of us with the booties! Before you know it, you'll be like that lady at BYU games who does hats through all the games.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite commercial is the snowball fight in the Olympic village.
ReplyDeleteWe are always looking to see if they show places that we know. Jacy is having fun walking down memory lane. She went through her old school stuff to see if she could find the words to "Oh Canada" in French.
I forgot about the snowball fight commercial (Coca-Cola)--that's another favorite of mine!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite so far is the spoof on Twilight... I think it's for a cell phone company.
ReplyDeleteKacin told his friend yesterday that we watch TV ALL the time now. What can I say? The Olympics are awesome. Maybe I should join you in doing something productive as I watch . . . something besides snacking on popcorn and chocolate.
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! I found you, thanks for leaving me your blog address! I loved catching up. Lets get together for dinner soon!!

Jacob asked me why we ALWAYS watch the skiing show anymore...
