I thought I'd share a sentence from Elder Aubrey's letter this week. This is in response to my telling him about Sharing Time on Sunday.
I am also a fan of the primary songs. I think they are actually pretty powerful, just because they teach restored truths in such a simple form.
I seem to recall Gary saying something similar at one time. Great minds think alike.

Two Good Thoughts
1) Families are central to Heavenly Father's plan.
This was our Sharing Time lesson today. We talked about what central means and about how important something that is central is to the overall piece. We had visitors from the scriptures come through our Time Machine (you can read about that here on our Primary President's blog). They were Adam & Eve and Lehi & Sariah. They each talked about their families and how they had followed Heavenly Father's plan for them. We sang "The Family is of God" (which always makes me cry--today was no exception) and I closed with my testimony of how important our families are. So a shout-out to my family for being the great people you are!!
2) "How does one magnify a calling? Simply by performing the service that pertains to it" President Thomas S. Monson
This was quoted by Pres. Eyring in his priesthood session talk from October's General Conference. Simple, but profound, isn't it?

A Random Conversation From My House
Tonight we had brownies for dessert (cut in heart shapes for Valentine's Day). Maren & Carson were discussing the merits of brownies when Maren mentioned blondies. Carson said that was a dumb name and then proceeded to say that maybe we needed some red ones, call them "reddies."
And for when you get old, how about some grey-ies?
I tell you, I keep that boy around cuz he makes me laugh every day!

No Dirt
Last Sunday's Sharing Time went just fine--no problems, not even any crawling around in the dirt (to understand this read here). And because today was Stake Conference, I had a week off. Hopefully, next week's will be good too--we're having visitors via our Time Machine. Adam & Eve and Lehi & Sariah will be visiting the Hillcrest 4th Ward Primary, JSYK.

Quarter Century

25 years ago today, Gary asked me to marry him, and 25 years ago tomorrow I accepted his proposal. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Even harder to believe he's not here to celebrate with me. But this isn't a sad post--it's a grateful post. I'm so grateful for the time we DID have together. I love Gary with all my heart and miss him tons and tons. So I'm even more grateful for our Heavenly Father's plan that makes it possible for us to be together forever. I taught a Sharing Time lesson today about that plan (and only teared up a little bit in Junior Primary)--what a blessing to know who we are, where we came from, why we are here on earth, and where we will go after this life.
So thanks to Gary for asking me to marry him and for making the last (almost) quarter century a great ride. I love you!

Ridiculous Dream
Nothing like a classic anxiety dream...
Mine is usually some form of forgetting that I had a math class all semester and it's time for the final. But last night/this morning it took another form--Sharing Time going from bad to worse to completely awful. Let's just say it involved forgetting to prepare the signs, leaving the outline at home, constant interruptions, no piano player for the song-intensive lesson, running out of time, and having to crawl around in the dirt, Of course, all those things could happen (well, except for having to crawl around in the dirt), but they probably won't. It was pretty ridiculous once I woke up and I laughed really hard while telling Carson about it.
(btw, I've prepared the signs, put the outline in my bag, and our piano player is VERY reliable--I'll let you know about the dirt...)
